The Mitchell Library

The Mitchell Library is in Glasgow. I hardly ever venture across to that side of Scotland, mainly because the buses take forever and the trains are slightly quicker but too cold. And to be honest I'm totally bias as an Edinburgh girl, but it does have some exceptionally beautiful buildings.

The Mitchell Library is one of those buildings and definitely worth a visit, whether you like books or not. Although if you do like books it's even better because this place has loads of them.

It's one of the largest public reference libraries in Europe and has over one million items in it including  loads of digitised photographs of Glasgow from the olden days.

It's open late Monday - Thursday, but don't turn up on a Sunday because it will be closed.

  1. Nice as I love visiting old buildings. I really wonder where they store the original photos of Glasglow. Happy New Year 2013 from Malaysia :)

  2. LOVE that staircase! Does this library have any ghosts by chance?
